Autospirit launched their new International event the Culzean Autoclassica at the superb Culzean Castle on the Ayrshire coast in September 2007 and announced that the first annual Culzean Autoclassica will be held 21st - 24th August 2008.
The Culzean Autoclassica will adopt a traditional theme and this was in evidence at the launch when many of the 300 vintage, classic and modern high performance vehicle owners present dressed for the occasion. Visitors were entertained with demonstrations of planned Autoclassica activities and many relaxed in the castle’s magnificent courtyard enjoying listening to live Jazz and 50’s style bands playing, accompanied by appropriately dressed dancers.
Special heritage displays at the launch, an important feature along with a Concours d’Elegance and a high profile Auction at future Autoclassicas, included F1, Le Mans and historic racing cars. This reflected Autospirit’s intention to promote a nostalgic return of racing cars to the nearby disused part of the 1950’s Turnberry circuit and to also feature demonstration runs of these cars in the castle grounds. Graypaul’s presence with the latest Ferrari and Maserati models focussed everyone's attention to the fact that corporate participation will be a major part of the Culzean Autoclassica including hosting an annual “Culzean Autoclassica Classic” golf tournament on the famous Ailsa Turnberry Championship Course next door.
